About TBM – Who We Are:

TBM Consulting is a operations and supply chain consulting firm with offices across North America and Europe. We serve manufacturers, distributors, service organizations, private equity firms and their portfolio companies. With 150+ consultants across two continents, TBM is well-positioned to support large-footprint, multi-national clients.

TBM was a pioneer in bringing lean principles to US manufacturing over 30 years ago. Many of our early client successes are documented in Jim Womack’s book, Lean Thinking. Our lean heritage runs deep, and we use lean tools and in our engagements every day.

Our specialties are in operational excellence, supply chain management, human capital strategy, private equity value creation, digital manufacturing, and management system implementation.  TBM is also a recognized leader in Production Operations by ALM based on our client impact, depth of expertise, and ability to execute a broad array of projects across the full spectrum of client contexts.

Your Role: Senior Management Consultant

The Senior Management Consultant (SMC) typically works as part of a project team on large scale implementations or projects. The SMC is responsible for working with TBM stakeholders to support data collection, quickly assess and analyze the current situation, identify value creation opportunities, shape and align implementation, and support their execution and long-term success. The SMC serves as the project lead, holding responsibility for cross-referencing manufacturer’s needs with proposed solutions, and driving those solutions to achieve high customer ROI and quantified impact on time and within budget.

A small example of your role includes:

  • Apply analytical skills and operational excellence methods to drive continuous improvement on the shop floor, in the warehouse, and across back-office functions — serving both TBM team members and client personnel.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to client leadership: translate data and observations into clear, compelling recommendations that move clients to action — including delivering difficult findings with respect, confidence and candor.
  • Provide problem-solving support and practical industry expertise, frequently facilitating on-site workshops, individual and group coaching, and change management sessions.
  • Rapidly develop your competencies across multiple industries and sectors, becoming a skilled and highly effective implementer with the ability to develop clear and compelling analyses of relevant client problems and translate those objectives into implementation activities.
  • Leverage past experiences to facilitate a collaborative, hands-on approach to implement change within the client’s organization.
  • Spend the majority of time working with the clients at their location. The balance of the time is spent in review with the company, updating plans, consulting with clients via phone, planning engagements, and training or in some cases developing new content.

What you bring to TBM:

TBM looks for talented and progressive leaders with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in management consulting, manufacturing or other relevant industries that have the desire and capacity to expand their industry and process knowledge.

Technical Requirements:

  • Strong lean transformation background — deep grounding in Toyota Production System, Danaher Business System, or equivalent, with documented results driving measurable performance improvement.
  • Combined operations and supply chain leadership — progressive plant or operations management, direct line responsibility, and ability to lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Planning, scheduling, and S&OP knowledge — production planning, capacity planning, and application across manufacturing environments.
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel proficiency — complex models, pivot tables, and data analysis; ability to structure ambiguous data sets and extract actionable insights quickly.
  • Financial acumen — ability to connect operational improvements to P&L impact, cost structures, and ROI.
  • ERP systems awareness and AI fluency — understanding of how systems interface with operations, and a genuine willingness to adopt emerging technologies.
  • Willingness to travel 100%, consisting of 4-5 days per week at various locations in the US.

Interpersonal & Leadership Profile:

  • Strategic advisor mindset — proactively shapes the client’s agenda rather than waiting for direction; builds trusted relationships that earn the right to influence.
  • Influential and courageous — ability to get clients at all levels to take action; delivers challenging findings and difficult news with clarity, professionalism, and composure.
  • Crisp communication style — written and verbal; adapts to executive, manager, and shop-floor audiences; reads non-verbal cues and navigates complex client dynamics.
  • High bias for action — moves quickly, creates urgency, and drives momentum without sacrificing quality.
  • Critical thinking and comfort with ambiguity — identifies root causes and formulates clear-headed recommendations under pressure.
  • Results-oriented accountability — holds self and client teams accountable for completing commitments on time and with measurable impact.
